One of Canada’s priorities is family reunification. Today the government of Canada announced new measures and processes to allow entry to:
- Certain extended family members of Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents such as siblings, adult children, grandchildren and grandparents and those in a relationship of at least 1 year.
- Foreign nationals under compassionate reasons in circumstances such as a life-threatening illness, critical injury or death.
Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will publish the details about eligibility, requirements, and process for extended family members on October 8, 2020.
In regards to travel and entry to Canada for compassionate reasons, the information will also be released on October 8, 2020 on the website of the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Canada is also announcing measures that will benefit some International students. It refers to those who will be attending a Designated Learning Institution(DLI). IRCC mentioned that the DLI must have a COVID‑19 readiness plan in place. All the information will be posted on October 20, 2020 on the IRCC website.
